ONLINE: The Wonderful World of Audiobooks

April 2, 2018 – April 27, 2018 all-day

The Wonderful World of Audiobooks

with Kelly Lytle and Sloan McBride

Are you the adventurous type?  Are you willing to do whatever it takes to get your stories in front of readers?  These are some of the questions we will explore and hopefully you’ll be able to answer if you come spend time with me and Kelly Lytle of Findaway Voices.  We are going to take on the subject of audiobooks and their place in the fiction world, from both the author and producer sides.  Kelly Lytle has graciously agreed to provide information from the producer side to questioning minds.  We hope to answer all your questions and get you excited about this rapidly growing venue.

Whether you’re updating a well-loved book from your back list, or you’re an Indy Author, audiobooks can be a terrific way to get your name and books into a valuable market.  Although audiobooks are not new, only in the last two decades have they made their way from the peripheral into the hungry fictional book market.

In this workshop we will explore aspects of how to pick a narrator, the process of making an audiobook, the cost of creating an audiobook, and marketing an audiobook.  Kelly Lytle from Findaway Voices is going to participate in the workshop and chime in on different subjects and help answer questions.

When the workshop is done, you will have a better understanding of this exciting venture.

The fee for this class is $20.00 for LVRW members and $25.00 for non-LVRW members.

Sloan McBride is a multi-published author who leans toward the paranormal.  She has been writing professionally since 1998.  She belongs to Romance Writers of America, Kiss of Death Chapter, Futuristic, Fantasy & Paranormal Chapter, and is Treasurer for Hearts Through History Chapter.

She first heard about audiobooks when they were but a wee glimmer in the fiction market, and decided to invest her time in learning more about them. Her critique partner, A.J. Brower, suggested she develop a workshop about audiobooks.  Although reluctant at first, the workshop for audiobooks has been of great interest to people so she has been happy to offer them.

Kelly Lytle leads author services and production for Findaway Voices, an audiobook creation and distribution platform from Findaway. He works closely with authors and publishers to connect them with a community of world-class narrators, create audiobooks, and market and sell those audiobooks everywhere in the world. At Findaway, Kelly also played a key role in launching the Navy eReader Device (or NeRD) and growing AudioEngine into the world’s largest business-to-business audiobook platform.

Kelly published and narrated his memoir, To Dad, From Kelly, about his relationship with his late father, college football Hall of Fame running back Rob Lytle, in 2014. Kelly speaks often on the concussion crisis in professional sports and has been featured in Sports Illustrated, The Denver Post, and The Detroit Free Press.
